I think the best advice anybody could
give you is to begin gown shopping as soon as you know you are getting
married and
that you should not let your wedding
plans be made by "committee." You know, the habit of inviting your
friends, family,
neighbors, room mates and even
complete strangers give their opinion. If your fiance' was not selected
by committee, th en you are capable
of making the second most important
decision about your wedding. The choice of the most important dress you
will ever wear is your decision .
Shop with one or two trusted family
members or friends who love you and have tastes that are similar to yours.
Dress shopping shouldn't be a battle
of wills.
Scope out local bridal shops before
you try anything on. Find one what reflects your attitudes, taste,
budget and one that feels good
to you. Bond with a consultant if you can. Make her your new
best friend.
Utilize the experience and expertise
of the shop bridal consultant who seems have your happiness and best
interest as a priority. Make
an appointment if you can.
Leave small children at home.
A bridal shop is not equipped for small children and they will be a distraction.
Plan to leave payment of at least
one-half when you find the perfect dress.
Select your accessories while you
are wearing your gown.
